Activities and Conversation in French & Chinese

Visiting Chinatown Paris

Tuesday 3 October 2023 from 10:30 to 12:30 Registration required

In France, the 13th arrondissement of Paris is often associated with the Chinese community. Jérémie NI, the founding partner of Chinform and president of the Panda & Coq club, which aims to promote Franco-Chinese friendship through meetings, will take us on a tour of Chinatown Paris with four stops:

1) On the Olympiade square: how did China Town come from?
2) Visit the Buddhist temple on the square: what are the messages of this Chinese religion or philosophy?
3) In front of the tea shop: the tea trade between England and China in 1800, which led to the first opium war from 1839 to 1842?
4) In front of the home once occupied by former Chinese Prime Minister ZHOU Enlai: why Mr ZHOU is highly respectable by the Chinese nowadays?

The guided tour will take place on Tuesday 3/10/2023 at 10:30. The meeting place will be communicated to you after registration.

Our speaker’s fee is 12 euros per person.

For those who are interested, we could end the tour in a restaurant of the Min culinary school (闵菜), which is one of the eight most renowned Chinese culinary schools.
