The different areas of Saint-Germain-en-Laye

Here is the list of the different areas :

  • Town centre : The historical town centre, located near to the Château, its park and Saint
Germain church, is linked to an excellent transport network (RER A, bus station, Tram 13 in
2022). There are numerous shops, a regular market, post office, police station and Town
Hall. Cultural facilities include the Alexandre Dumas theatre, a multi-media library, a cinema
and the Maison des Associations. There are also many schools within a short distance of the
town centre. Parking, however, can be difficult, in spite of several underground car parks.
  • Alsace - Pereire : : This is a very residential area bordering on Saint Germain forest. Several
schools are located here as well as the Protestant church. It is within easy access of the
RER A and bus network and also the future Tram 13 station of La Grande Ceinture. The
Lycée International is not far away.
  • Lycée International : : As the name suggests, this area surrounds the Lycée International
with its 14 international sections. The iconic Château d’Hennemont is situated at the upper
end of the school campus. The Horticultural and Agricultural Lycée is also nearby, along with
a business park and the job centre. There is a direct bus link to the RER A and town centre.
  • Rotondes - St Léger : : Numerous public facilities are located in this area: a post office,
library, fire station, local police station and offices dealing with social security, benefits and
taxes. Schools, childcare facilities, shops, medical practices and a multi-purpose hall are
located around the Place des Rotondes, whilst an outdoor market takes place every Friday
afternoon. There is also a big gymnasium called Les Lavandières and a future Tram 13
    station.
  • Sous-Préfecture - Pontel : : As the name suggests, the Sous-Préfécture administrative
centre is located here, as well as the local law court, gendarmerie and Saint-Léger church. It
is a residential area close to several schools: the Collège des Hauts-Grillets (a partner
school of the Lycée International), the Lycée Léonard de Vinci and the Institut Notre-Dame.
It is also well connected by bus to the RER and to secondary schools in and around the town
    centre.
  • Hôpital : : The public hospital and Saint Germain clinic are both located in this area, only a
short walking distance from the town centre with its shops and Administrative Centre. It is
    also a residential area.
  • Debussy - Schnapper : : Not far from the town centre, Saint Germain’s main secondary
schools are located here : Marcel Roby, Debussy and the Lycée Jeanne d’Albret. Numerous
cultural and musical facilities are also available at a centre called La CLEF and at the
Conservatoire de Musique. The Maurice-Denis museum and gardens are also a feature of
    this area.
  • Fourqueux: With 4,200 inhabitants, the village of Fourqueux lies next to Saint-Germain-en-
Laye. In 2019, Fourqueux became part of Saint-Germain administratively but has retained
its own Town Hall. It is within easy reach of the Lycée International and its partner school of
Les Hauts Grillets. Fourqueux also has a primary school which is linked to the German
section of the Lycée International. The RER A in Saint-Germain is a 20-minute bus ride
away. In 2022, it will also be linked to the Tram 13.
