Don’t miss the International Coffees – with a theme or talk – which take place approximately once a month at the Maison des Associations (MAS), 3 rue de la République in Saint-Germain-en-Laye. They are open to all of our members, making them truly international as they bring together women of all nationalities. These Coffees are also a sort of « open afternoon » for those who wish to find out more about our Association before joining.
New Members’ Welcome Team (Accueil des Nouvelles ADN)
A multi-lingual team welcomes newcomers and helps them to integrate during their first year with us. Meetings are organised specifically for new members: coffees, « potluck » meals and restaurant outings.
This activity is aimed at foreign members who wish to improve their French and converse with others on a regular basis. Groups are run by native French speakers and are made up of members of various nationalities. Different language levels are catered for.
Language GroupsMeetings take place in a variety of languages apart from French and enable native speakers to meet up with other fellow speakers. Members of all nationalities who are fluent in a particular language are also welcome to join a language group. The languages that are the most represented within the 50 nationalities in the Accueil International are English, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Dutch and Polish. Each language group organises a programme of coffees, outings, lunches and other activities.
French women returning from expatriation
This group enables French women returning to France after a period of expatriation to meet up with other women in a similar situation to exchange their impressions, experiences and create new ties.
Mothers and Toddlers
Once a month on a Wednesday morning, mothers get together and enjoy coffee, cake and a chat, whilst their toddlers play. There is also the opportunity for mothers to meet up amongst themselves of an evening in a local restaurant in St-Germain-en-Laye. A small French conversation group is also organised specifically for mothers with young babies so that they can improve their French skills whilst their babies play!
Sharing skills and hobbies
Cooking, painting, taking photos, gardening… there are many skills and hobbies to share or discover on a regular basis. These activities are offered by volunteer members who are willing to share their knowledge and talents to enable fellow members to develop new interests.
Sharing books and extending horizons
Literature groups and book clubs in French, English and Spanish enable members to discuss and share one’s impressions about a novel, biography or autobiography. Discovering Chinese culture through visits, workshops, restaurant outings and discussions about a book… and participating in musical encounters also feature amongst our activities.
Getting out and about
Museums, exhibitions, local neighbourhoods, shows, films, restaurants: the Paris area offers a wide range of possibilities to those who wish to explore it with the help of our group leaders. Whilst some visits like the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée de l’Orangerie are proposed each year, other visits to temporary exhibitions, historical walks in Paris and cultural visits follow a programme which changes each season according to the opportunities available and the particular interests of the organisers.
Keeping the body and mind active
Playing a game of Mah Jong or bridge, walking in the forest or having a round of golf also feature amongst our activities. Some of these activities take place every week; others like Bodyflex take place once a month… There is something for everyone!
